Amazon.com shipped its first item from its new 1- million-square-foot warehouse in Livonia today, in advance of the start of the holiday retail season.
Kyle Vashner took the first order.
It was, of all things, for custom-fit floor liners for a car.
The new warehouse, which employs about 1,000 workers, specializes in shipping larger items — such as household decor, sports equipment, and garden tools — mostly throughout the Midwest.
