The government’s use of online commercial buying portals has proven so popular with federal agencies that the General Services Administration has boosted the number of platform providers from three to eight.

GSA’s new list of awardees released March 27 adds Staples, Grainger, Pacific Inc., and three other companies to the roster of e-commerce platform providers. An arm of Amazon and Fisher Scientific have continued on the program.

Overstock.com was the third initial awardee of a fiscal 2020 zero-dollar platform operation contract for the e-commerce portal setup but does not appear in the latest list. Overstock’s contract ended March …
